Mumbai: Hemant Bhosle - Asha Bhosle’s son - passed away on Monday in Scotland, where he had been living since the last five years. Hemant, who was a music composer, succumbed to cancer after a long battle with the disease.

Asha’s elder sister and legendary singer Lata Mangeskhar’s 86th birthday celebrations were called off soon after news of Hemant’s demise reached the Mangeshkar household.


News of Hemant’s death came when Asha was leaving for Mumbai from Singapore, where she had been to perform at concert.


Asha had lost her daughter Varsha three years ago. Varsha had reportedly committed suicide by shooting herself in the head at her residence here.
