New Delhi, Sept 13: Top BJP and RSS leaders today discussed the Supreme Court's strong indictment of the Gujarat government in the Best Bakery case and its possible impact on the coming assembly elections in four states. The meeting, attended by Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu and RSS leaders Mohan Bhagwat and Madandas Devi, also discussed the situation if the special court in Rae Bareli ordered framing of charges against Advani and others accused in the Babri Masjid demolition case, party sources said.

The decision to convene the meeting was taken late last night after Naidu had consultations with Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

While BJP has ruled out resignation of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, RSS has sought to downplay the apex court's observations saying that what the court said applied to all state governments and not to Gujarat alone that people should be protected and the guilty punished.
