Dhaka, Nov 10: All-rounder Andrew Flintoff stunned Bangladesh with a whirlwind unbeaten 70 as England scored an emphatic seven-wicket victory in the day-night second one-dayer here today to wrap up the series. The 25-year-old Lancashire player produced some lusty hitting during his 47-ball knock as England took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
They had won the first match at Chittagong by an identical seven-wicket margin.
Chasing a modest target of 135, England were struggling at 37-3 when Flintoff came up with his superb display to take his second man of the match award of the series.
Flintoff, who hit an unbeaten 55 and took 4-14 in the first one-dayer, got off the mark with a thumping four through point off Tapash Baisya and went on to hit eight more boundaries and four sixes.
"Flintoff is quite a player," said England captain Michael Vaughan who scored 37 not out. Vaughan gave the all-rounder good support after England were rocked by the new-ball pair of Baisya and Mushfiqur Rahman.
Baisya trapped opener Vikram Solanki LBW and bowled Paul Collingwood, while rahman removed left-hander Marcus Trescothick, who inside-edged the ball on to the stumps.
Earlier, paceman Richard Johnson took a career-best haul of 3-22 to help restrict Bangladesh's score to 134-9 from 50 overs on electing to bat. Bureau Report
