No subsidy for Amarnath pilgrims: Govt
New Delhi, July 30: Government today ruled out in the Rajya Sabha provision of subsidy to Amarnath pilgrims on the pattern of Haj subsidy.

"There is no proposal before the government," Minister of
State for Home I D Swami said during question hour when asked
if there was any move to provide subsidy to Amarnath pilgrims
on the pattern of Haj subsidy.
He said expenditure on the Amarnath Yatra was borne by the Jammu and Kashmir government and the Centre was only assisting the state through deployment of additional security forces.
Swami said nearly 1,12,000 pilgrims had registered for Amarnath Yatra this year.
He said it was the responsibility of the state government to provide security and make all other arrangements for the Yatra. Bureau Report
