Jalandhar, June 11: Resentment appears to be brewing among some of the cops who have been transferred by the state government following caste clashes at Talhan village last week as they allege that they were made "scapegoats of dalit politics". "Although some of the dalit leaders threatened the administration after Talhan clashes that they will burn the whole town and a mob started firing on the cops at Buta Mandi, no SDM or senior administrative officer was posted at the site," one of affected officers said here today on condition of anonymity alleging they have been made scapegoats "to please dalits". "Senior police officials available at the violence side were repeatedly requesting the deputy commissioner for deploying an SDM at the site as the mob started firing and pelting stones on the police after burning a Himachal Roadways bus but it was only after 1 am that officers of the rank of ADC and tehsildar were sent to the site," the policeman said. "Holding police officials responsible for firing and transferring them even well before the magisterial inquiry was nothing else but a step to please dalits," another cop said. Bureau Report
