Vienna, Sept 12: The UN nuclear watchdog today imposed an October 31 deadline on Iran to prove it is not secretly developing atomic weapons, a spokeswoman for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said.
"The resolution was adopted without a vote, a procedure very unusual in the IAEA", spokeswoman Melissa Fleming said.
A western diplomat earlier confirmed the 35-nation board of the IAEA had approved a resolution urging Iran to reveal whether it is enriching uranium to weapons-grade level by the end of October. The decision came after five days of intense closed-door negotiations at IAEA headquarters in Vienna.
