Thiruvananthapuram, July 14: The government did not intend to bring the higher secondary education under the general education department, education minister Nalakath Soopy told the assembly today. Though some panels had made suggestions in this regard, the government had no plan to make plus-two education as part of the general education department, Soopy said in reply to questions.

To a supplementary, he said that the government did not fully agree with the view that student politics should be totally banned in campuses. Also, it was against negation of organizational freedom to the teachers, the minister said.

The syllabus of plus-two courses was being changed on the lines that was followed by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), he said.
