New Delhi, July 28: President A P J Abdul Kalam today asked youth living in different parts of the world to become enlightened citizens and contribute to the cause of a prosperous, happy and peaceful India.
Addressing a global dharma conference, 2003, being held in Edison, New Jersey, USA, via video-conferencing, on the subject of "enlightened citizens," he said the three components for this are education with value system, religion transforming into spirituality and freedom from poverty.
On how religion can be transformed into spirituality, the President suggested that one has to remove "I and me" and connect the religious islands with love and compassion through a "garland project."
On achieving freedom from poverty, the President said that "Technology Vision 2020" is the roadmap with networking of rivers and providing urban amenities in rural areas as major missions.
