Mumbai, June 10: A gangster owing allegiance to Hemant Pujari gang and wanted in several cases of serious offences in Karnataka was killed in an encounter here, police today said. Acting on a tip off, police spotted the gangster Naveen Shetty at Bandra-Kurla complex last night and asked him to surrender, police said.
The gangster however, started firing at police, who in turn fired at him.
Shetty was injured seriously during the cross-fire and was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, police said.
A country-made revolver was seized from the gangster.
In another case, two extortionists were arrested near a McDonalds outlet at Andheri in north Mumbai when they came to collect the extortion amount from a garment merchant yesterday, police added. Bureau Report
