A Palestinian was killed and another injured early on Monday at the Rafah refugee camp in the south of the Gaza Strip during an incursion by the Israeli army, Palestinian security sources said. The sources said that Ahmad Youssef Assoufi, 24, was shot in the head after Israeli tanks entered the camp with tanks. The source said that four dwellings had also been destroyed by the Israeli army with bulldozers. They said that another Palestinian, injured during the shooting, had not yet been taken for medical help due to the heavy fighting. Earlier security sources and witnesses said that 14 Israeli tanks and a bulldozer were used during the incursion. The sources said that the tanks entered towards 1:00 am (4:30 am IST). The incursion came after the security cabinet of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon agreed to launch heavier military operations against the Palestinians after 21 Israelis were killed in the space of 24 hours in attacks which have sent the country reeling.
