Ayodhya, Sept 23: Efforts should be made to solve the vexed Ayodhya issue through dialogue, noted writer and chairman of Centre for study of secularism Asgar Ali engineer has said. "The temple movement is gaining momentum and fundamentalis forces have started spreading the venom of hatred. The time has come to solve the Ram temple issue through dialogue," he said while speaking at a seminar here yesterday. If a solution through negotiated settlement fails, the concerned parties should give an assurance that they would honour the court verdict on the issue, engineer said.
"It is basically a local problem between members of two communities. But its tremors are felt all over India," he said.

Engineer said unity and integrity of the country would be in perils if serious attempts were not made to stop the campiagn of communal forces.
Magsaysay award winner Sandeep Pandey also spoke at the occasion.

Meanwhile, Ayodhya Manch, a local-social organisation, decided to undertake social service programmes for the benefit of the people.

"Instead of meddling in Ayodhya issue, we will try to keep the city clean and help the people to get water and electricity," Manch Convener Abhishek Mishra said.
