Blair praises Queen Mum as symbol of decency and courage
British Prime Minister Tony Blair led tributes to the Queen Mother, who has died aged 101, as a symbol of British decency and courage.

He said she had become part of the fabric of our nation, which would join with Queen Elizabeth and the royal family in mourning her death.

Bush deeply saddened by death of Queen Mother

US President George W Bush and his wife Laura Bush are deeply saddened by the death of Britain`s queen mother, the White House said.

The president and Mrs Bush are deeply saddened by the death of the Queen Mother, spokesman Gordon Johndroe said as the US leader spent a long Easter weekend at his beloved Prairie Chapel Ranch in Texas.

Putin condoles Queen Mother`s death
Russian President Vladimir Putin condoled the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Kremlin Press Service said.

The President expressed his heartfelt sympathies to the British monarch and the people of Great Britain on the demise of the Queen Mother, the press service added.
Commonwealth secretary-general Don Mckinnon said the queen mother would be ``deeply missed`` He said that she would be ``deeply missed`` throughout the group of 54 mainly former British colonies, which her daughter, Queen Elizabeth, nominally heads.
``She was an exceptional person who devoted her life to her family, her nation and the Commonwealth,`` he said.
Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien echoed his words

``Today, all Canadians join me in expressing sorrow that a symbol to the world of abiding grace, dignity and personal courage has been taken from us,`` he said.
``Above all, she will be remembered for her matchless and galvanising devotion to duty during the darkest hours of World War Two, when Britain, Canada and the Commonwealth stood alone against a seemingly invincible tyranny.``
