Itanagar, June 15: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Mukut Mithi said some "vested interests" with the help of NSCN(I-M) were trying to destablise his government. Addressing a press conference here yesterday, he said, however, there was no threat to his government and added that he enjoyed overwhelming support of the people as reflected in the recently-concluded panchayat elections.
The NSCN(I-M) with an intention to fulfil its objective of creating a greater Nagaland "was trying to dislodge my government by pumping in money," he said, adding another reason why they opposed was the enactment of the 'Arunachal Pradesh Control of Organised Crime Act (APCOCA), 2003'.
The NSCN(IM) should be told in clear terms by the Centre that there would be no compromise on the territorial integrity of Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh to fulfil its demand of greater Nagaland, Mithi said.
He was appreciative of the central government's decision to fence the Indo-Myanmar border and deploy Assam Rifles on the border replacing border security force.
The camps of the insurgents across the border from where arms and drugs are smuggled into the country should be dismantled and crushed, the Chief Minister said.
