New Delhi, May 30: Attacking BJP President M Venkaiah Naidu for his flip-flop statements on construction of a mosque in Ayodhya, All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM) today asked the central government to clarify stand on Supreme Court's ruling on construction in the acquired land. AIMMM president Syed Shahabuddin also asked VHP to declare its stand on "hundreds of Masjids and Maqbaras (Cemetries)" existing within the Panchkosi Parikrama (disputed land) in the backdrop of its "reiteration" that it shall not permit the construction of a mosque there. "The VHP's denunciation of Venkaiah Naidu's suggestion on construction of a Masjid on the side of Ram Mandir, to be built on the disputed site, and its retraction by him and his party is no surprise," Shahabuddin said in a statement here.

"Nor is the assertion by the VHP that it will defy the Supreme Court order. After all, the NDA is the government of the RSS, by the RSS and for the RSS," he charged.

Stating that construction of temple or mosque within the acquired area was explicit in the SC's judgement of October, 1994, he alleged that the central government tried to "undermine" the apex court's judgement in march this year but failed as the court refused to allot any part of the acquired area to the VHP or make any change in the status quo.

"The Union government is duty-bound to clarify its stand on the October 1994 judgement of the SC and warn the VHP that it will brook no interference with the execution of the scheme of construction as outlined by the court," Shahabuddin said.
