Mumbai, July 25: Yesteryear star Shammi Kapoor has been admitted to Intensive Care Unit of breach candy hospital here for treatment of congestion in the lungs and his condition was stated to be stable. The 72-year-old actor, who was suffering from bronchitis for a couple of weeks, was recently admitted to Breach Candy Hospital following serious lung congestion.

"He is stable now and has been kept under observation in the Intensive Care Unit," hospital sources told a news agency today. The actor, who popularly came to be known as the yahoo man after his much-appreciated role in the film Junglee, has acted in numerous films, including Kashmir Ki Kali, Teesri Manzil, Brahmachari, Tumsa Nahi Dekha, Bluff Master, China Town and Professor.

Brother of legendary showman, Raj Kapoor and actor Shashi Kapoor, Shammi had created his own niche in the Hindi film world. Known for his inimitable acting and dancing style in the fifties and flair for comedy and essaying romantic roles, Shammi of late has been leading a largely retired life except for some selective roles in films like Ajooba, Hakumat and Kareeb.

He also recently acted in a Salman Khan starrer Janam Samjha Karo.
