The Lok Sabha was adjourned till 2.00 pm on Thursday amidst pandemonium over the reinduction of George Fernandes into the Union Cabinet as defence minister.
As soon as Fernandes got up to answer the first question of the day, Opposition members, led by Congress members, got up to say that they would not allow Fernandes to speak in the House.
Prabodh Pande of the CPM who asked the question also refused to ask any supplementaries to the question. Opposition members told Speaker Balayogi that they would not allow Fernandes to reply to questions in the House as he was occupying his chair illegally. Amidst the pandemonium the Speaker tried to proceed with the questions but this was objected to by Priyaranjan Dasmunshi and Kamalnath of the Congress. The Speaker adjourned the House till 2.00 pm when he failed to restore order. Bureau Report
