Srinagar, May 19: In the first major reshuffle in police and bureaucracy after the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed government took over in Jammu and Kashmir, director general of police A K Suri was today shifted while home secretary M M Bhat was shunted to education department. Additional DGP Gopal Sharma, a 1971 batch IPS official, has been appointed the new DGP, official sources said.
Suri was involved in a controversy during the last assembly elections on the issue of deployment of Special Operations Group (SOG) following an election commission directive that the force be kept under restrain during the polls. Bureau Report
