Islamabad, Aug 07: Leaders of Pakistan's six-party Islamic alliance held 'secret talks' with the government, apparently to thrash out an agreement about President Pervez Musharraf's controversial amendments to the constitution and his continuing as army chief, media reports said today.
The Muttahida Majlis-E-Amal (MMA) opposes Musharraf's Legal Framework Order (LFO) giving himself sweeping powers and wants him to step down as army chief.
But last night, some top leaders of the alliance held a secret meeting at an undisclosed location with Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali and other senior government officials, the reports said. The meeting was apparently held to arrive at an agreement on the thorny issues but the outcome was not immediately known, the reports said.
Besides Jamali, the president of the ruling Muslim League-Q Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain represented the government, while MMA leaders Maulana Shah Ahmed Noorani, Qazi Hussain Ahmed and Maulana Fazlur Rehman attended the meeting.

A senior ISI general represented the president, the reports said.
