Differences within the Hurriyat Conference have come to the fore again after the 23-party amalgam decided to question its two leaders including former chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq about their Sharjah meeting with some Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir and other expatriate Kashmiri leaders.
Hurriyat sources said that a two-member team comprising the present chairman Abdul Gani Bhat and Maulvi Abass Ansari would be questioning Farooq, who returned from Dubai on Monday. The sources said another senior Hurriyat leader Abdul Gani Lone would also be asked about the meeting with Sardar Abdul Qayoom, chairman of Pakistan's Kashmir Council, at Sharjah last week. Lone, presently away in the United States, had reportedly made a statement against foreign mercenaries and also that Hurriyat was ready for polls if its fairness was guaranteed.
