Mumbai, Dec 20: A special court today exempted film
star Sanjay Dutt and 88 others accused in the 1993 bomb blast
case from appearance till January five on their agreeing to
satisfy certain conditions.
The accused appeared before the court today along with
their lawyers Farhana Shah and Subhash Kanse in response to a
judicial directive.
On a plea made by defence lawyers, designated judge P D Kode exempted the accused on condition that they would be represented by their advocates in the court during their absence.
The accused were also allowed to move about anywhere in Maharashtra during the exemption period to meet their relatives as the case had already come to an end and judgement was awaited. All of them have been asked to appear before the court on January six. Outside the court, fans of Sanjay Dutt gathered in large numbers to take a close look at the actor.
On December nine, CBI had completed its arguments and closed the case.
