New Delhi, Feb 09: In a shot in the arm for Kanchi Shankaracharya's latest peace initiative on Ayodhya, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) today said that it was willing to consider any fresh proposal from the seer on the issue but ruled out any dialogue with the Sangh Parivar.

Ahead of VHP's 'shiladaan' programme in March last year, the board had shot down a similar peace move by the Pontiff describing his formula as "incomplete." "The board has every regard for the esteemed Shankaracharya and considers him as one of the great Hindu religious leaders. However, the talks failed last year due to several reasons including his incomplete formula and his inability to provide certain documents required by the board," convenor and spokesman of the board's committee on Babri Masjid S Q R Illyas said in an interview here. Asked whether the board was willing to accept the new initiative taken by the Seer, he said, "Let the new proposals come. The dispute can be solved either by a court verdict or by an amicable mutual discussion. The board has never declined to welcome a consequential dialogue.

"Rather, it has resolved to give due consideration to any initiative by the central government for a meaningful discussion in order to solve the imbroglio in accordance with law, provided the government acts sincerely to create a conducive atmosphere for the same."

Interestingly, the VHP has opposed any "mediation" on the part of the Kanchi Seer saying that he failed in his mission last year and they don't want him "humiliated" further.
