India in touch with members to resolve issues at Cancum
New Delhi, July 28: Government today told Rajya Sabha that discussions are being held with WTO member countries as well as state governments for successful outcome of the WTO ministerial conference at Cancum in Mexico in September.
New Delhi, July 28: Government today told Rajya Sabha that discussions are being held with WTO member countries as well as state governments for successful outcome of the WTO ministerial conference at Cancum in Mexico in September.
"With regard to preparations for the Cancum ministerial
conference, India has been taking steps at bilateral,
plurilateral and multilateral levels, both with developed and
developing country partners, aimed at resolution of all
development-related issues," Commerce and Industry Minister
Arun Jaitley said in a written reply.
The issues include trade related intellectual property rights and public health; special and differential treatment and implementation-related issues.
Jaitley said further domestic consultation with stake- holders including state governments and Union territories and experts on issues under negotiations are regularly held, adding consultations with political parties are part of the on-going domestic consultation process.
The Minister said India has been holding discussions with major trading partners, including the European Union, China, Brazil and Mexico, from time to time on issues of shared common interests in the on-going negotiations under the WTO agreement on agriculture.
