Hyderabad, Mar 15: Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu today said his state was ready to host the inaugural Afro-Asian Games scheduled to be held in October and has all the infrastructure and organisational skills in place for the big event. Speaking at a function organised by International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) at GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium here, Naidu told chief guest and President A P J Abdul Kalam that the state has the needed infrastructure to host the mega event successfully.

Kalam later released a software "reading aid for the blind", developed by IIIT. Naidu said he was in touch with Indian Olympic Association (IOA), which will finalise the venue for the games in which nearly athletes from 90 countries are expected to take part.

The state government had earlier presented a detailed report to IOA regarding the infrastructure and other facilities in the state and staked its claim to host the games. Bureau Report
