Break-away Hurriyat leader detained in J&K
Srinagar, Oct 07: Police picked up separatist leader of the break-away Hurriyat group, Masrat Alam, here last night for alleged unlawful activities, official sources said today.
Srinagar, Oct 07: Police picked up separatist leader of the break-away Hurriyat group, Masrat Alam, here last night for alleged unlawful activities, official sources said today.
Alam was immediately detained under Public Safety Act, they said.
He is the second separatist leader of the break-away faction of Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani to be detained under PSA. Earlier, national front chairman Nayeem Khan was detained under the same act last month. It may be mentioned that Alam was made interim chairman after the rebel group parted ways with the separatist amalgam which was under the chairmanship of Maulvi Abbas Ansari.
