Government has liberalised rules and procedures for the receipt of foreign contribution to assist victims of Gujarat quake.
No permission will be required for the receipt of foreign contribution in the Prime Minister's Relief Fund or any other relief fund set up by the state government or any of its departments, A home ministry spokesman said in New Delhi, on Tuesday. He said voluntary organisations already registered under the foreign contribution (regulation) act would not require any separate permission to accept foreign contribution. These organisations have been permitted, as a special case, to receive foreign contributions in cash and kind for assisting victims of the quake.
He said voluntary organisations which have been allowed to accept contribution for a specific project can also, as a special case, use the foreign contribution for assisting earthquake victims under an intimation to Ministry of Home Affairs.
