Jodhpur, June 16: Social Justice Front (SJF) today said that it would make reservation for economically poor people a major election issue in the year-end assembly polls and would support only those parties which accepted this ideal, its convenor Lokendra Singh Kalvi said here. The SJF would not bank on mere assurances from political parties but would like some concrete actions on their part, Kalvi told reporters.
SJF, he said, had already shown its sway on the electorate by organising huge rallies in different parts of the state in support of reservation for poor people of upper castes and "no political party can ignore us now”.
"The Congress party during its president Sonia Gandhi's visit to Rajasthan last week informed us that it would take some decision on our demand within a fortnight," he said.
The BJP had also assured that the Central government would set up a commission to look into the demand, he added.
