New Delhi: After a row over actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui being forced to drop out of a Ram Leela programme, actress Deepika Padukone today said that the society needs to be more sensitive and inclusive.
One of the most acclaimed Bollywood actors, Nawazuddin was asked to pull out of the Ram Leela programme in his hometown Budhana in Uttar Pradesh after members of Shiv Sena reportedly raised objections as he is a Muslim.
When asked about her opinion on the incident, Deepika told a TV channel, "I think as a society, in general, we need to be more inclusive and sensitive to people and situations."
Meanwhile, on the TV show, the 30-year-old actress also said that as celebrities it is difficult for them to voice their opinions.
"It is tough, but at the end of the day you have to find a voice. You have to see what's genuine to you and what's not genuine to you. Sometimes your opinion will resonate with everyone else and sometimes it may not," she said.
