Four killed, 40 injured in suicide bomb attack in Jerusalem

Jerusalem, June 19: In the second suicide strike in as many days, a bomber blew himself up here tonight killing four people and injuring over 40 others, official sources said. The blast occurred at 0940 IST near a busy bus stop at the disputed city`s French hill intersection, a Jewish neighbourhood close to Arab East Jerusalem.

Police said the attacker "ran up" detonating the device.

Ambulance sirens could be heard as security forces cordoned off the area. The explosion comes a day after a suicide bomber attacked a crowed bus during the morning rush hour yesterday killing himself and 19 Israelis, most of them schoolchildren.

In response to yesterday`s attack, Israeli troops and tankers backed by helicopter gunships moved into West Bank towns of Jenin, Qalqulya and Nablus.
