New Delhi, Nov 27: Congress today reconstituted the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) making it a 113-strong jumbo body following the recent merger of TMC with it and did a balancing act by accommodating top leaders from both sides in the executive as well as Political Affairs Committee (PAC) and Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC).

S Balakrishnan of the TMC, who was made state party president in the wake of the merger, has been appointed chairman of the powerful PAC while former PCC president Kumari Anandan will head the DAC. E V K S Elangovan, who vacated the PCC leadership in favour of Balakrishnan, G K Vasan president of erstwhile TMC and former union minister S R Balasubramaniam have been made members of the PAC as also the 21-member PCC executive.

There are as many as 23 general secretaries and 18 vice presidents and 36 each of secretaries and organising secretaries.

Former Rajya Sabha MPs Peter Alphons and A G S Ram Babu are among the 23 general secretaries of the party. Alphons has also been made spokesperson along with Killivalavan while party MLA D Sudarshanan has been made treasurer.

Among the general secretaries are Pon Vijaya Raghavan, Vasant Kumar, Gnana Shekaran, Alagiri and Shakti Vadivel.

Prominent among those appointed as vice presidents are V K Lakshmanan, Anbarasu, E M S Nachiappan and Gnana Deshikan (both MPs), Adaikala Raj, Mukta Srinivasan and Kaliya Perumal.

Senior leaders Manishankar Aiyar, R Prabhu, M Arunachalam, Tindivanam K Ramamurthy and Jayanthi Natarajan find a place in the executive.

It also announced heads of district congress committees in the state.
