Baharampore (WB), Jan 18: BSF jawans fired on school students injuring three when asked to apologise for having beaten up some of them up today at Nintitai village in West Bengal's Murshidabad district, the police said.
A number of students were beaten up by a BSF jawan of a camp in the village in Suti police station area when he fell off from his bicycle after colliding with them.
After the students complained to their teacher, they went in a body to the BSF camp and demanded an apology for the assault on them.
This angered the jawans, who opened fire injuring three students, including one critically, the police said.
The Superintendent of Police has rushed to Nintitai as tension prevailed with villagers sitting on a dharna against the firing.
