Ahmedabad, Oct 16: Gujarat High Court today granted bail to 29 people, accused in murder of six minority community members in Ambasana village, about 80 kms from here, during the post-Godhra clashes.
Justice Akshay H Mehta granted bail to 29 of the 33 accused in the case, wherein the six people were ‘murdered’ on April three night, according to the counsel for the accused.
The accused, all from majority community, were arrested on April six and seven and the sessions court had earlier rejected their bail plea. Appearing before justice Mehta's court, the counsel for the accused said, “The police had bungled in the case and the prosecution had no strong evidence to support their stand.”
