Imphal, Aug 16: Manipur chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh today instructed the deputy commissioners of flood-affected districts to submit detailed reports on the damages caused by the current spell of floods in the state. Official sources said that a high-level meeting chaired by Singh reviewed the situation arising out of the devastating floods, considered to be the worst after 1966, and asked the district authorities to submit the report by this afternoon. Sources said that the state government would submit a detailed report on the situation to the Central government for immediate assistance. The flood situation, meanwhile, remained grim as thousands of villagers, including women and children, at several places in interior areas were yet to be evacuated, sources said adding that more relief camps had been opened to provide assistance to the affected people. Though the levels of the rivers have started receding, hundreds of villages still remain submerged. Bureau Report Bureau Report
