Moscow, June 22: Russia has asked Pakistan to stop backing the terror outfits acting against its neighbours and the nations of the region including its Chechnya province.
"We expect from Pakistan to fulfil all its anti-terror obligations and commitments and stop supporting the terrorist and extremist organisations active against its neighbours and in the region, including Chechnya," Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Yakovenko said.
He was briefing reporters on Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov's just-concluded Asia tour last week during which he also visited Islamabad and New Delhi. While noting that Moscow gives its due to Pakistan for its participation in the global anti-terror coalition's operation in Afghanistan, Yakovenko said however, it was not enough to meet the expectations of the world community. Yakovenko also lauded India's peace initiatives vis-a-vis Pakistan and expressed Moscow's readiness in facilitating the normalisation of Indo-Pak relations. Bureau Report
