Pakistan formally proposes to India to resume train service
Islamabad, July 24: Pakistan today formally proposed to India to resume the `Samjhauta Express` train service as a further step to normalise the relations between the two countries.
Islamabad, July 24: Pakistan today formally proposed to India to resume the "Samjhauta Express" train service as a further step to normalise the relations between the two countries.
"The railway authorities of the two countries should meet at the earliest to finalise the arrangements for quick resumption of the train service between Lahore and New Delhi," foreign office spokesman said here. The train service was shut down following an attack on Indian Parliament in December 13, 2001. The proposal was conveyed through the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi to the Indian external affairs, the foreign ministry said.
Earlier this month Pakistan had also offered India to hold experts level talks between the civil aviation authorities of the two countries to resume their air links.
However there has not yet been any confirmation from India about the resumption of flights between the two countries, the official APP news agency reported.
