British Premier Tony Blair on Monday briefed US President George W Bush on the talks he had with Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in New Delhi on Sunday night. “Blair spoke to bush by telephone for about 15 minutes before he left here for Islamabad to hold talks with Pakistani leadership,” the British Prime Minister's spokesman was quoted as saying by a top news channel.
The spokesman said both the leaders had felt it important to talk after Blair's meeting with Vajpayee and before his meeting with Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf.
“The American position is in line with our own on what the Prime Minister deems are the central principles--no no support for terrorism and dialogue as a way forward,” the spokesman was quoted as saying.
After his meeting with Vajpayee, the British premier had said the whole world had an interest in not allowing Kashmir dispute to escalate out of control and terrorism should be dealt with in all its manifestations.
Blair had spoken to bush last week before leaving on the three-nation tour to the region. Bureau Report
