Srinagar, Aug 14: The Hurriyat Conference today alleged that Kashmiris in and outside the state were being "ill-treated" and looked upon with an eye of suspicion.
"Kashmiris who visit delhi for seeking travel documents to meet their relatives in Pakistan have to undergo grilling rounds of questioning at every stage and are being looked upon with an eye of suspicion," the 25-party separatist amalgam said in a statement here.
"They are being ill-treated in such a manner as if they are not human beings and are facing a revengeful attitude at every stage. Even lodging and boarding facilities are being denied to them," the statement said.
While efforts were being made to improve ties between India and Pakistan to resolve the Kashmir issue it was "unfortunate" that Kashmiris have to face "revengeful and indecent attitude", which goes against the very purpose of peace moves, it said.
For success of the process of negotiations it is important to create an atmosphere of confidence among the people, the statement said, adding serious and positive steps were required to be taken to solve the Kashmir issue.
