Houston, Nov 08: Vijay Singh moved closer to ending the season as the PGA Tour's top money winner after the second round of the Tour Championship in Houston. The Fijian lies one shot behind Tiger Woods, who must win the event to have a chance of preventing Singh from finishing top of the money list.
Woods is six strokes behind leader Charles Howell, who fired a second consecutive 67 to top the leaderboard on eight under par.
Singh carded a second-round 68 for a one-under-par halfway total of 141 at Champions Golf Club.
He needs only to finish joint third or better to stop Woods claiming an unprecedented fifth straight Arnold Palmer award.
Singh insisted he was not worrying about the battle for the money list title.
He said: "I don't go home and think about it; I just do my own thing.
"If you let the hype bother you it's going to affect your game. I just want to go out and enjoy my weekend of golf and hope I play like I did today."
World number one Woods remains optimistic he can produce the perfomance he needs to get right back in contention.
He said: "A lot of guys have a chance to win. I'm right up there with those guys. "
