Mysore, May 31: Actress Shilpa Shetty, in a phone interview with Zee News, requested the media to stop ‘trail by media’ and to ‘wait for the court to decide and let the law take its course.’
She said she was being harassed by the press and was unable to concentrate and perform in her work. “I believe in the judicial system. So wait for the court to decide before judging me,” she said.
She said that no one was paying attention to the fact that Pankaj Agarwal, owner of Praful sarees, had broken the law himself by not following the contract.
She also said that the whole case was being blown out of proportion as could be expected since she was a celebrity.
She believed that the case should have been dismissed as the tapes in question were recorded and submitted by the petitioner and not the police. This means that according to the Indian Telegraph Act they were inadmissible in court.
She continuously maintained that her parents were innocent and that this truth will be proved soon.
Agarwal had gone to the police with recorded threats made by Shilpa Shetty’s father Surendra Shetty of harm using underworld dons. Agarwal is said to have broken a contract with Shilpa Shetty by using her pictures for advertising Praful and not paying her, her due. Shilpa’s mother was arrested and released on anticipatory bail today. Her father is now missing after being denied bail.
