Shillong, Nov 12: North Eastern Council has given approval to schemes worth Rs 38.59 crore and sanctioned the release of over Rs 2.38 crore during October this year for implementing the schemes in different states of the region.
The developmental schemes included three in Arunachal Pradesh, nine in Assam, seven in Meghalaya and one each in Mizoram and Tripura, besides four others, NEC sources said
Of these, the NEC sanctioned the payment of Rs 2.92 lakh to Indian Institute of Managament in Kolkata for evaluation-cum-impact study for the NEC funded ongoing schemes like marketing support for agri-horti produce in the region.
An administrative approval of over Rs 1.37 crore and sanction of Rs 68.50 lakh were also accorded to the institute of tourism and future management trends, Chandigarh, for imparting training at post graduate level in tourism, hospitality, airlines, conference and events management with guranteed placement to 250 youths from North Eastern states, the sources said.
The NEC approved Rs 8.75 lakh and sanctioned over Rs 2.62 lakh for evaluation-cum-impact study of the ongoing schemes like North-Eastern Regional Institute of Water and Land management at Tezpur.
