New Delhi, Aug 14: In the midst of a government- opposition stand off, Lok Sabha Speaker Manohar Joshi was today understood to have told political parties' leaders that CVC has not prepared any report on defence procurements made during the 1999 Kargil conflict. At a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC), Joshi is believed to have stated that although CVC did take up two paragraphs mentioned in comptroller and Auditor General's report on "Operation Vijay', their examination remained incomplete. Therefore, no report on these paragraphs relating to procurement of ammunition has been made by CVC, he told the meeting while recalling the demand made by public accounts committee was for a CVC report on Kargil purchases.

Informed sources said the speaker made it clear since PAC has not completed examination of CAG's report on procurement for Operation Vijay, the issue may not be discussed in the house at this stage. Rajya Sabha chairman Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, in his ruling yesterday, had rejected the opposition demand for a statement by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on the issue, saying CVC had not given its report on equipment bought during the Kargil conflict.
