New Delhi: One of the most revered Ghazal singers, the world ever saw, Jagjit Singh left his fans and followers teary-eyed on October 10, 2011. The legend of a singer was born on this very day (February 8, 1941) in Sriganganagar, which was then in Bikaner State of Rajputana in British India. He is survived by wife Chitra Singh, who is a known singer too.

The Ghazal maestro's foundation—Shri Jagjit Singh Foundation and Perfect Harmony Productions have planned the first ever Jagjit Singh music festival this year, on the occasion of the platinum jubilee of the ghazal maestro's birth anniversary.


The Jagjit Singh memorial award would be given to any artist who shows extreme creativity, achievement and contribution in various fields of arts, reportedly.


Interestingly, the legend's timeless music and magical voice will be celebrated at the Shanmukhananda Hall on February 8, in Thane.
