New Delhi, Aug 11: Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) today said it has won National Thermal Power Corp's Rs 1,412 crore order for setting up 1000 mw stage-II of Kahalgaon super thermal power project in Bihar. Bhel outbid equipment suppliers from China and Czech Republic in the international competitive bid (ICB) to win the order, a company statement said here.

Located in Bhagalpur district of Bihar, Kahalgaon STPP stage-II is being set up by NTPC under government's mega power policy and is targeted for completion in 10th Five Year Plan period (2002-07).

The first of the two 500 mw units is slated for commissioning in 40 months, followed by the second unit five months thereafter.
Bhel's scope of work in the contract envisages manufacture, supply, testing, erection and commissioning of steam turbine generators, boilers, associated auxiliaries and electricals, besides control and instrumentation (C&I) and electrostatic precipitators (ESPs).
The turbine generators and boilers would be manufactured at the company's Haridwar and Trichy plants respectively while the C&I system would be supplied by BHEL's electronic division, Bangalore.
The company's Hyderabad plant would manufacture the coal mills and boiler feed pumps and electricals will be supplied by Bhel's Bhopal and Jhansi plants.

Bhel's Ranipet plant would manufacture and supply ESPs. The contract would be executed by BHEL's power sector- eastern region.
