Australia and Pakistan will play a three match one-day international 'Super Challenge II' series in June, the Australian Cricket Board (ACB) announced on Wednesday.
The first two matches will be day-night fixtures under the roof of the Colonial Stadium in Melbourne on June 12 and 15 while 'The Gabba' in Brisbance will stage the third and last match on June 19.
ACB Chief Executive James Sutherland said the series would help satisfy the increasing demand for international cricket in Australia.
"The series allows us to give more people the chance to see their team play and ensures that the team is able to continue its buildup for the World Cup," Sutherland said.
The head-to-head record between the two points to a close contest. In the 60 one-dayers played Australia has won 33 and lost 24, with one tie and two matches finishing without a result.
Accepting the invitation Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Director Brigadier Munawar Rana said: "Taking on Australia is not only important to our preparation for the 2003 World Cup in South Africa but also a great challenge as Australia has defeated us in some important fixtures."
The series follows the first Super Challenge series in August 2000, when Australia played South Africa in the first international matches to be played indoors.
That series proved highly successful with more than 90,000 spectators watching the teams play out a tied series of one win each and a thrilling tie. Bureau Report
