New Delhi, Nov 17: Th statement of Rohit Chaturvedi, cousin of jailed former BSP minister Amarmani Tripathi and arrested by CBI in connection with the murder of poetess Madhumita Shukla, was today recorded by a city magistrate here. Chaturvedi, who was brought here from Lucknow was produced before a additional chief metropolitan magistrate to record his statement under Section 164 of code of criminal procedure (CRPC).

CBI has alleged that Chaturvedi had contacted the killers of poetess at the behest of Tripathi's wife, Madhumani. In the meantime, efforts have been intensified to trace Madhumani who has gone missing since the alleged killer of Madhumita, Prakash Chandra Pandey was arrested on November 10.

The CBI remand of Chaturvedi will expire on November 19.
