Lucknow, Jan 13: BJP today said that the Mulayam Singh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh would fall before March next in the wake of deteriorating law and order situation in the state. "The coalition government will be short-lived. It will fall before March," state BJP president Vinay Katiyar told reporters here.

"The law and order situation in the state is in tatters. Incidents of rape and kidnapping have increased while the government has turned a nelson's eye to these incidents," he alleged.

Coming down heavily on the government's decision to disband four divisions and nine districts created by previous regimes in the state, he said, "The opposition should have been taken into confidence by the government before taking such an administrative step. The decision to disband four commissionaries and nine districts is undemocratic."
"The decision smacks of political vendetta. No government should change the decisions of previous government for the sake of changing it. If this trend continues, it will send a warning signal to democracy," he said.

Leader of opposition Lalji Tandon said there was a constitutional crisis in the state.

BJP's Mahila Morcha activists staged a demonstration in the city with rolling pins in their hands and later its president Lajjrani Garg handed over a memorandum to Governor Vishnu Kant Shastri urging him to ask the state government to fulfil its constitutional obligations.
