US-led coalition authority in Iraq to dissolve next year
Baghdad, Nov 16: The US-led Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA) ruling Iraq will dissolve by June 30, 2004, under the terms of an agreement with the interim Iraqi Governing Council published here yesterday.
Baghdad, Nov 16: The US-led Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA) ruling Iraq will dissolve by June 30, 2004, under the terms of an agreement with the interim Iraqi Governing Council published here yesterday.
"By June 30, 2004, the new transitional administration will be recognized by the coalition, and will assume full sovereign powers for governing Iraq. The CPA will dissolve," said the text of the agreement published by the coalition.
The new administration should be formed by a transitional national assembly to be elected "no later than May 31, 2004", under the agreement. Bureau Report
