Jammu, Sept 17: Four Kashmiri Pandit candidates today demanded a judicial probe into the "misuse and bungling" of the migrant votes in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections.
They also demanded streamlining of poll process for all those displaced persons living outside Kashmir valley. Jammu and Kashmir Awami League general secretary and party candidate from Haba Kadal S K Tikoo alleged that the election authorities in the state have deliberately created hurdles for Kashmiri pandit voters to benefit the ruling National Conference. "Some unscrupulous elements were filling up form 12-C which is meant for postal ballots to favour the NC," he told reporters. Over 10,000 such forms were reported to have been submitted, he alleged.
Form-M, meant for displaced Kashmiris for excercising right of franchise at different polling booths, is not being provided to migrants by authorities with the aim to deny them voting right, Tikoo alleged.

He urged the Election Commission to issue immediate directions to stop issuance of postal ballots and to make it mandatory for migrants to excercise their right of franchise through Electronic Voting Machines.
Asking the EC to take immediate steps for issuance of voting slips to migrant Kashmiri Pandit voters after fully verifying their identities, he demanded a judicial probe into the misuse of postal ballots.

Expressing similar concerns, three BJP candidates—Hira Lal Chatta from Haba Kadal, L K Moza from Amira Kadal and G K Muju from Sonawar--demanded a judicial probe into the irregularities.
