Guwahati, Mar 10: The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) will launch its electioneering for the Lok Sabha polls today with a rally at minority-dominated Dhubri in western Assam. Party spokesman Jagadish Bhuyan said here today that AGP president Brindabon Goswami, along with a group of senior party leaders, would address the rally at Dhubri today.
He said the party was contemplating to hold a series of such meetings at various places along the length and breadth of the state to woo voters before the election. The party, which drew a blank in the last two Lok Sabha polls in Assam, needs to improve its performance in the forthcoming polls to boost the sagging morale of its cadres.
The party, however, is yet to decide on its poll candidates as well as the number of seats it is going to contest in the coming polls. No final decision has yet been taken regarding seat adjustment, and not alliance, of seats with the other anti-Congress parties, including the BJP in the state. The spokesman informed that scrutiny and shortlisting of applications of the party's poll aspirants was being carried out at the district level and the final decision would be taken by the party's state level election committee soon.
