Itanagar, Apr 04: The Arunachal Pradesh government will soon
introduce a new education policy for which a new roadmap is under
preparation, state education minister Tamiyo Taga said.
Taga said a conference of higher education officials
was organised last month and another conference of secondary
education officials will be organised in this month to finalise the
roadmap for the new education policy.
Pointing out at the educational scenario of the state, he said much
more needs to be done to give a boost to this sector.
He said previous state governments had failed to boost the
educational sector due to poor implementation of the rules.
When asked whether the government would go for communitisation of educational institutions, he said it was already under implementation in certain areas under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA).
Under this programme, he said, the running of the schools is managed by the panchayat while the state government is responsible for the finances. Taga, who took charge of the education portfolio after the installation of the BJP-led United Democratic Front (UDF) government, has brought certain changes in the policies of the department.
He had stopped the practice of utilising the fund meant for infrastructural development of schools under Prime Minister Gram Yojna (PMGY) programme for paying students stipend as it was done earlier.
