Journalists observe day-long fast in city
Chennai, Nov 09: Nearly 500 journalists from the print and electronic media today sat on a day-long fast at the Press Club here to protest the state assembly`s decision ordering the arrest of six journalists of `The Hindu` and `Murasoli` for `breach of privilege` of the House.

Several state-level political party leaders, including
Arcot Veerasamy and Aladi Aruna (DMK), AICC secretary G K
Vasan, working president of the state Congress E V K S
Elangovan and former Rajya Sabha MP Peter Alphonse, addressed
the fasting scribes.
The editor-in-chief of 'The Hindu', N Ram, and joint managing director of the paper, N Murali, were also present.
